COURSE OVERVIEW

 

Aims                                               

To introduce participants to the safety related aspect of living and working offshore and give practical training in sea survival, fire fighting and self-rescue techniques and to prepare aircrew and passengers for travel by Helicopter and to successfully escape from a variety of emergency situations when a Helicopter ditches into water using Emergency Breathing System (EBS).

Outcomes

On completion of this training session, each participant will:

  • Describe the pre-boarding, boarding, in flight and disembarkation procedures.
  • State the different types of emergencies and describe the likely ditching and emergency landing scenarios.
  • Demonstrate the evacuation process including donning helicopter lifejackets, use of escape routes and exits, and the operation of onboard emergency equipment.
  • Sea Survival Techniques, Heat Escape Lessening Position (HELP), Survival Line and Circle, Hypothermia and Hyperthermia, use of the Heliraft.
  • Demonstrate, evacuation from a Helicopter following a ditching on land.
  • Demonstrate, Dry evacuation from a helicopter ditched on water to a Heliraft.
  • Demonstrate, escape through an exit underwater, from a partially submerged helicopter.
  • Demonstrate evacuation techniques in a variety of scenarios from a capsized helicopter and inflate the helijacket.
  • Describe the physics of the EBS.
  • Demonstrate the safe operation of the EBS equipment.
  • Demonstrate, EBS clearing procedures.
  • Demonstrate correct evacuation from a ditched helicopter using EBS.
  • Demonstrate, safe Helicopter winching.
  • Demonstrate correct technique when climbing a rescue scramble net.

Examination

We have sets of EXAMS for each of the package in addition to practical assignments which you must pass before certification. Pass mark is 50%. If you fail any of the exams, you would be required to re-sit it at the cost N2000 per paper.

The course fee covers: registration, examination fee, tuition, course materials, tea break and lunch break. After payment and registration, you will receive the complete course material ahead of the training.

Duration, Delegates and Responsibilities

The duration of the course is 3 days. The course is delivered in our Full Multi-Media, Air-conditioned Training Laboratory. The course can also be delivered as an in- House Training Program in your premises. For in-house training, the minimum number of persons required per class is 6 persons, if you are training a class that is less than 6 persons, your payment may cover payment for 6 persons.

We shall execute the program as presented in this schedule with our materials, equipment and instructors, and issue certificates to participants at the end of the program. If the training is holding at our Training Laboratory, we shall serve tea/coffee with snacks and lunch during the program.

If you want the training to hold in your company premises, you are to provide the training hall and serve tea/coffee with snacks and lunch during the program. If the training location is outside Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, an additional cost to cover logistics at such a location will be added to the total cost unless provided or specific arrangement is made by the company.
