FIRE AND EXPLOSION STUDY

STUDY OVERVIEW

Introduction

We conduct your Fire and Explosion Risk Assessment study according to guidance, standard and regulatory requirements. We provide top-quality services of the highest possible standard which meet internationally recognized level of performance. We shall work out comprehensive study criteria specially designed and tailored to go well with your operations and to suit your peculiar concerns. The study will be carried out using advanced software technology tools and will provide top-performance data analysis with verifiable reference results and dependable baseline findings. We will go in-depth of every element of the studies, collect and publish all relevant data required to make the report acceptable and implementable. As a leading QHSE&S company in Nigeria, we provide up-to-date and accurate information, and a well-tailored guidance on QHSE & issues, and our services help organizations to identify hazards, manage risk, prevent loss, reduce cost, increase productivity and improve reputation. The study has a high promise for your organization and is strongly recommended for your approval. We look forward to a beneficial business relationship between our organizations.

SCOPE OF WORK

Fire and Explosion Risk Assessment Studies and preparation of reports for your facility shall consider hazardous materials, operational controls and engineering controls, and methodology includes nodes study, hazards recognition, safeguard evaluation, recommendations etc. Risk analysis shall be comprehensive which shall include all aspects your facilities or proposed facilities. The scope of shall include but not limited:

  • Identification of materials present and method of material selection
  • Identify the fire potential _
  • Assessment of consequences of fire
  • Establish possibility of ignition
  • Consider possibility of fire growth
  • Will a fire be detected
  • Determine the need for fire protection
  • What fire suppression systems present
  • Select appropriate fire protection
  • Communication and evacuation

 Other Considerations:

  • Identification, screening and ranking of serious scenarios
  • Quantitative analysis for risk assessment
  • Consequence analysis of the various scenarios under study, with respect to dispersion of released fuel using fire & safety explosion index
  • Study of domino effects
  • Estimated areas affected by explosion/estimate impact distances
  • Probabilistic assessment of risks
  • Recommendations
  • Fault tree/event tree chart
  • Event analysis
  • Hazard category evaluation of hazard scenarios & evaluation of representative scenarios such as
  • Tank failure/leaks/overflow
  • Pipeline leaks
  • Pump mechanical seal leak
  • Hose failure
  • Vapour cloud explosion, if burnt
  • Analysis using Dow index (Numerical derivation) for deriving base maximum probable property damage and exposure radius of such damage.

Consequence Analysis:

  • The consequence analysis shall be carried out using various simulation models to calculate the effect of leaks/spillage of flammable materials and the affected areas by dispersion of toxic release, if any.
  • Consequences analysis shall establish the extent of flammable clouds and damage zones for thermal radiations, over pressure and explosion. The extent of toxic emission will also be judged by dispersion calculation of vapor release and affected areas will be identified.
  • Damage circles showing the consequences of all credible hazardous occurrences shall be superimposed on the plot plan to show the area affected inside and outside the plant.
  • Risk reduction measures
