Overview

Logistics and Transport Management is about the movement and storage of goods around countries and the world at large. It involves managing the flow of goods and services. It encompasses all the processes involved in the movement and storage of raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods. Enmeshed within all the connections between points of points of primary production/origin, points of processing, points of storage and points of consumption are Transport and Logistics personnel and processes. It is about getting the right product, to the right customer, in the right quantity, in the right condition, at the right place, at the right time, and at the right cost

Aims

  • Understand the major aspects of transportation and logistics in the context of the current business environment.
  • Develop a familiarity with the issues involved in the transport of cargo internationally.
  • Have an awareness of the legal, documentary and mechanical aspects of international trade from the perspective of doing business from Nigeria.
  • Become familiar with the general issues concerning the management of a warehouse. These include site selection, warehouse layout, safety and security measures, cost drivers, shipping and receiving, packaging, inventory management principles, and just-in-time fulfillment.
  • Acquire a general understanding of the major technology issues facing the logistician. These include such topics as PC’s, computer languages, the Internet, networks, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), AutoID technologies, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and international trade software.
  • Gain familiarity with the concept of logistics outsourcing. Understand which logistics functions are more successfully outsourced. What factors must be considered before undertaking an outsourcing relationship.
  • Become familiar with some basic strategies for conducting a successful negotiation.
  • Coursework is described in a practical, “hands-on” approach, so that each learning module can be utilized in the participant’s current or future positions as a quick-reference for transportation and business logistics problem solving.

Examination

We have Examinations for each package in addition to practical assignments which you must pass before certification. Pass mark is 50%. If you fail any of the exams, you would be required to re-sit it at the cost N3,000 per paper. 

Fees And Program Responsibilities

The course duration is 3 days. The course is delivered in our Full Multi-Media, Air-conditioned Training Laboratory. The course can also be delivered as an in-House Training Program in your premises. 

For in-house training, the minimum number of persons required per class is 6 persons, if you are training a class that is less than 6 persons, your payment may cover payment for 6 persons. We shall execute the program as presented in this schedule with our materials, equipment and instructors, and issue certificates to participants at the end of the program. 

If the training is holding at our Training Laboratory, we shall have tea and lunch breaks during the program. If you want the training to hold in your company premises, you are to provide the training hall and have tea and lunch breaks during the program. If the training location is outside our training centers, an additional cost to cover logistics at such a location will be added to the total cost unless provided or specific arrangement is made by the company.
