ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Safeguard strongly insist that only learners who have undertaken and are successful in the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety should enroll for diploma program. The syllabus assumes that learners will have this level of prior learning.

It is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus. NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 7.0 or higher in IELTS tests.

ASSESSMENTS

The assessments focus on the application of knowledge to help you prepare for the health and safety tasks faced in the workplace. All assessments can be completed remotely i.e., do not require you to attend an invigilated examination venue.

Assessment Format

The qualification units are assessed in the following way:

You will have the following time periods to complete each assessment:

You will be sent instructions on how to download the assessment paper and uploadyour completed work once you have been registered for each assessment.

Assessment Release and Submission

The release date is the date that you will be able to download the assessment paper and start work on your assessment. Your completed assessment must then be uploaded/submitted to NEBOSH by the date specified.

Once you have submitted your assessment for marking, you will be required to go through a ‘post assessment interview’ with your Learning Partner. In addition, each assessment will be submitted to anti-plagiarism software to help identify possible cases of plagiarism/malpractice.

Assessment Results

You will receive your results 50 working days after the submission date for your assessment. A unit certificate will be issued 20 working days after the notification date for each successful unit. 

Once you have passed all three-unit assessments (ID1/ID2/ID3) your combined percentage mark will give your overall grade for the qualification (Distinction/Credit/Pass).

Distinction: 226 or higher
Credit: 196 – 225
Pass: 150 – 195

A qualification parchment will be issued 20 working days after the results notification date for the third successful unit.  

MOVING FROM OLD ENROLMENTS AND UNIT PASSES TO THE NEW SPECIFICATIONS

As the syllabuscontent and assessment formats have changed,it will not be possibleto transfer between specifications. If you wish to do this, you must enroll onto the new specification and take all unit assessments for this specification.

RE-SITTING UNIT(S)

 You may re-sit a unit assessment if: 

• you achieved a ‘Pass’ in a unit that is five or more years old and you need it to achieve the qualification;
• you are ‘Referred’ (i.e., don’t pass); or
• you want to retake a Unit to get a higher grade.

There is no limit to the number of times you can re-sit unit(s) within the five-year period. Re-sit marks are not capped. If you want to try to improve your grade in a Unit, you need to tell Nebosh in writing within 20 working days of the declaration date of your successful unit.

ENROLMENT DURATION

You will have five years to complete your qualification. The five-year period starts from the date you passed your first successful unit (we call this the ‘declaration date’). Any unit that is five or more years old will not count towards the qualification and you will need to retake the unit(s) if you still want to complete the qualification.

DESIGNATORY LETTERS AND PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP

Holders of the NEBOSHInternational Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals may use the designatory letters ‘IDipNEBOSH’ after their name.

In addition, once you have your qualification parchment (have completed the qualification) it is anticipated that you will be able to apply for the following memberships:

FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT & RESOURCES

In course of your studies, you’ll be required to participate in various types of formative assessments such as classwork, groupwork and syndicate sessions, DI1/DI2/DI3 OBE take-home assignments.
